At Haynes Creek, the good news that Jesus saves sinners is the red-hot center of everything we believe, everything we are, and everything we do as the church, His bride. Therefore, as the only source of this amazing truth, God’s Word is our foundation and the lens through which we view our culture and our world. And because God is not silent, neither are we. At Haynes Creek, we preach Christ crucified in Oxford, to Oxford, for Oxford (1 Cor. 1:23). Because Jesus first loved us, we love the people of North Newton County (1 John 4:19). Regardless of skin color, party, or income, everyone is welcome at The Church at Haynes Creek, a church of repentant sinners washed in the precious blood of Jesus. For His glory alone!

When did Haynes Creek Begin?

In September 2015, First Baptist Church of Covington planted their first campus in neighboring Oxford, Georgia, and it was called The Church at Haynes Creek. While our service styles and church cultures are somewhat different, we are one church in two locations. When Haynes Creek was planted, its original campus pastor was Josh Cornett, whose family has since been called to serve in Colombia for the International Mission Board. After changing locations and campus pastors, Haynes Creek is still a growing, thriving campus of First Baptist Church, committed to reaching the people of North Newton County.

What are Sunday Mornings like?

Our goal is to worship Jesus from the bottom of our hearts, so we encourage you to dress comfortably. Each week, we teach through a passage from the Bible, sing, pray, and hang out together. The songs that we sing are usually a blend of modern tunes and classic hymns. Each Sunday is a relaxed, family atmosphere where people come to make more of Jesus and less of themselves. There are younger and older folks, married and single folks. No dress requirement. No strings attached.
